Procto-Glyvenol (10 Count)
Procto-Glyvenol is an over-the-counter treatment for hemorrhoids in the form of rectal suppositories. It is intended for the local treatment of internal and external hemorrhoids.
Procto-Glyvenol are the only medication in Poland that contain a combination of tribenoside and lidocaine.
- Tribenoside has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling and anti- pruritic properties . It also prevents damage to the endothelium of blood vessels.
- Lidocaine is a local anesthetic. It soothes unpleasant ailments related to hemorrhoids, such as pain, itching and burning.
Symptoms
Procto-Glyvenol in the form of suppositories is a drug intended for the local treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids.
Active substance: Lidocainum, Tribenosidum
Composition
The active substance | The active substances are tribenoside and lidocaine. One suppository contains 400 mg of tribenoside and 40 mg of lidocaine. |

Dosage
Rectal administration.
- The recommended dose is 1 suppository in the morning and 1 suppository in the evening until acute symptoms subside.
- Thereafter, the dose can be reduced by using 1 suppository once a day.
Do not exceed the recommended doses of the drug.
You should wash your hands thoroughly after each use of the medicine.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
This medicine should not be used in children as no safety data are available in this age group
Contraindications
Do not take Procto-Glyvenol:
- if you are allergic to tribenoside, lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6), or to other local anesthetics with an amide structure.

Warnings
Talk to your doctor before taking Procto-Glyvenol suppositories to people with liver problems.
Procto-Glyvenol suppositories should be used with caution in patients with severe liver damage.
In addition to treating haemorrhoids with Procto-Glyvenol, it is recommended to maintain proper hygiene of the rectal area, take appropriate physical exercise and follow an appropriate diet to maintain a soft stool consistency.
The drug must not be taken orally.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Procto-Glyvenol suppositories should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
Procto-Glyvenol suppositories can be used from the 4th month of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, provided that the recommended doses are not exceeded.
Driving vehicles
Procto-Glyvenol has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Overdosage
No cases of overdose with Procto-Glyvenol suppositories have been reported. There is no specific antidote against lidocaine.
Overdosage should not occur if the drug is used in accordance with the given dosing schedule.
In the event of an overdose, consult a doctor immediately.
Interactions with other drugs
So far, no interactions with other drugs have been reported.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about any drugs you plan to use, including those sold without a prescription.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following frequency terms are used to evaluate the side effects:
Rare side effects (more than 1 person in every 10,000 treated, less than 1 person in every 1000 treated):
- hives
- injection site pruritus, injection site rash, injection site pain.
Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
- anaphylactic reaction,
- cardiovascular disorders,
- bronchospasm
- angioedema
- swelling of the face.
