Nifuroksazyd Hasco has an antibacterial effect against most bacteria causing intestinal infections. It is effective against Gram-positive cocci of the Staphylococcus and Streptococcus genera and Gram-negative microorganisms (Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Escherichia). Does not work against bacteria of the genera Proteus, Pseudomonas, Providentia. It does not disturb the proper microbiological balance of the digestive tract.

Nifuroxazide acts quickly, only in the intestinal lumen, is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, does not exert a general effect. It is quickly excreted from the body.

Intended Use of Nifuroksazyd Hasco

The drug Nifuroksazid 200 Hasco is used in acute or chronic diarrhea in the course of bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract.

Active substance: Nifuroxazide

Composition

The active substance	The active substance of the drug is nifuroxazid (Nifuroxazidum). 1 coated tablet contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide.
the other ingredients	potato starch, povidone, magnesium stearate and Opadry II coating composed of: polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 3350, quinoline yellow, lake (E 104); talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), sunset yellow, lake (E 110); indigo carmine lake (E 132).

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

• Adults: 800 mg daily in 2-4 divided doses.
• Children over 6 years of age: 600 to 800 mg daily in 2-4 divided doses.

Do not use for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor.

The drug is administered orally.

Contraindications

When not to use Nifuroxazid 200 Hasco:

• if you are allergic to nifuroxazide, 5-nitrofuran derivatives or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Warnings

This is medicine. For safety, use it according to the leaflet attached to the package. Do not exceed the maximum dose of the drug. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

• Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Nifuroxazid 200 Hasco.
• Fluid and electrolyte replacement is necessary during treatment.
• If diarrhea persists after 2 or 3 days of treatment, or if diarrhea worsens while taking the medicine, contact your doctor immediately.

Nifuroxazid 200 Hasco with food, drink and alcohol

• The drug should be used simultaneously with a strict diet, excluding juices, raw vegetables and fruits, spicy and heavy foods.
• Consumption of alcohol during treatment may cause a reaction manifested by severe diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain.

The drug Nifuroxazide 200 Hasco contains quinoline yellow (E 104) and sunset yellow (E 110)

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. It is not recommended to use Nifuroksazid 200 Hasco in pregnant women and during breastfeeding

Driving

The drug has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Overdosage

In case of deliberate or accidental ingestion of large amounts of the drug, induce vomiting and contact a doctor.

Interactions with other drugs

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or plan to use.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Nifuroxazide is usually well tolerated. Hypersensitivity reactions manifested by allergic skin reactions may occur.
