Herbapect syrup is a drug intended for adults and children over 4 years of age, which is used in the case of catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, in particular in tiring “dry cough” and difficulties with expectoration. The active substances of Herbapect syrup are thyme extract, primrose tincture and potassium sulphoquaiacol, which ensure effectiveness in combating cough and clearing the respiratory tract.
Symptoms
Upper respiratory tract catarrh, dry cough, difficult expectoration.
Composition of Herbapect
5 ml of syrup contains:
- active substances: 498 mg of thyme herb liquid extract (Thymus vulgaris L., herba) (1: 2), extraction solvent: ethanol 30% (V / V), ammonia water 25%, glycerol 95%; 349 mg tincture of medicinal primula root (Primula veris L., radix) (1: 5) extraction solvent ethanol 70% (V / V); 87 mg of sulfowaacol (Sulfogaiacolum),
- excipients: liquid sorbitol, non-crystallising. It contains 6.4-9.0% (v / v) of ethanol.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described on the label or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Adults: 5 ml of syrup 3 to 4 times a day, after a meal.
- Children over 4 years of age and adolescents up to 18 years of age: 2.5 ml of syrup 3 to 4 times a day after a meal, not more frequently than every 4 hours.
- The package includes a measuring cup that facilitates dosing, with which you should measure the medicine.
The drug should not be used for more than 7 days. If after 7 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact a doctor.
Contradictions
- Hypersensitivity to thyme herb, primula root, sulfogwaacol or the excipient.
- Asthma.
- It should not be used in children who have had acute laryngitis (croup).
Storage
Keep out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25 ° C. Do not refrigerate. Do not freeze.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Possible occurrence of allergic reactions and gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea and vomiting).
- Allergic reactions can sometimes be anaphylactic shock or angioedema.
- If swelling, a sharp drop in blood pressure, bronchospasm or the patient feels unwell, seek medical attention immediately.
Warnings and Precautions
- A dose of 2.5 ml of the syrup contains up to 189.4 mg of ethanol 96% (V / V), which is equivalent to 4.5 ml of beer and 1.9 ml of wine.
- A dose of 5 ml of syrup contains up to 378.8 mg of ethanol 96% (V / V), which is equivalent to 9.0 ml of beer and 3.8 ml of wine.
- The use of the drug is harmful for people suffering from alcoholism.
- The alcohol content should be taken into account when used in children and adolescents, in high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
- The drug contains sorbitol, if the patient has been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, the patient should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
- A dose of 5 ml of the syrup contains 3.73 g of pure sorbitol, i.e. 0.373 of the above-mentioned. A dose of 2.5 ml of the syrup contains 1.865 g of pure sorbitol, i.e. 0.1865 of the aforementioned
- The syrup does not contain sugar and can be used by diabetics.
Use in children
- It is not recommended for use in children under 4 years of age.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- It is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
